Emerald ash borerThe emerald ash borer is a beetle that ravages ash trees. It is barely an inch long, but the amount of damage it can do is beyond comprehension. In its larval stage, it rages in the pulp of the wood, making serpentine galleries. Then, equipped with wings, it emerges and attacks the foliage.
This terrible insect comes from Asia. It reached North America almost two decades ago. Unfortunately, it has also established itself in Quebec. It travels from one territory to another on raw wood, including in the trees themselves or in materials or packaging made of this wood species. |
